The Spirit of Ecstasy will soon have to change clothes to go electric: the Rolls-Royce, in fact, it has decided to even take care of the aerodynamic resistance of the statuette in order to optimize the efficiency of future battery-powered models, and therefore presents a new version of its iconic front ornament.
Lower and slender to reduce aerodynamic drag. The statuette, which is celebrating 111 years of history in these days, will debut in its new form on the Specter and will help reduce Cx to 0.26: a record value for the manufacturer. The new shape is lower and more dynamic: the height has been reduced from 100.01 mm to 82.73 mm and also its fluttering appearance has been revised in the rear area. One leg is now extended forward together with the head, in a more extended pose. To redesign the Spirit of Ecstasy, the work started on the computer, but then reached the wind tunnel: in total, 830 hours were spent on the development of this new variant, launching a real challenge to the entire design team.
Each is different from the other. It is not the first time that the most famous statuette in the automotive world has been modified: in the past many details have already been changed, but in reality each model always differs from the other because these are handcrafted. After casting, each figurine is in fact hand-finished by an expert, to give it a unique expression and plasticity.
